The image of the point

Question:

The image of the point $(3,5)$ in the line $x-y+1=0$, lies on :

  1. (1) $(x-2)^{2}+(y-4)^{2}=4$

  2. (2) $(x-4)^{2}+(y+2)^{2}=16$

  3. (3) $(x-4)^{2}+(y-4)^{2}=8$

  4. (4) $(x-2)^{2}+(y-2)^{2}=12$

Correct Option: 1

Solution:

Image of $\mathrm{P}(3,5)$ on the line $\mathrm{x}-\mathrm{y}+1=0$ is $\frac{x-3}{1}=\frac{y-5}{-1}=\frac{-2(3-5+1)}{2}=1$

$x=4, y=4$

$\therefore$ Image is $(4,4)$ Which lies on $(x-2)^{2}+(y-4)^{2}=4$
