$5 x=2(2 x-1)$  [by cross-multiplication]

$\Rightarrow \quad 5 x=4 x-2$

$\Rightarrow$ $5 x-4 x=-2$ [transposing $4 x$ to LHS]

$\therefore \quad x=-2$
