Solution:
In the given matrix equation,
Comparing the corresponding elements, we get
x + y = 6,
xy = 8,
z + 6 = 0 and
w = 4
From the first two equations, we have
(6 – y) . y = 8
y2 – 6y + 8 = 0
(y – 2) (y – 4) = 0
y = 2 or y = 4
Hence, x = 4 and x = 2
Also, z + 6 = 0
z = -6 and w = 4
Therefore,
x = 2, y = 4 or x = 4, y = 2, z = -6 and w = 4
