Question:

Factorise:

$x^{2}+\sqrt{2} x-24$

Solution:

$x^{2}+\sqrt{2} x-24$

$=x^{2}+4 \sqrt{2} x-3 \sqrt{2} x-24$

$=x(x+4 \sqrt{2})-3 \sqrt{2}(x+4 \sqrt{2})$

$=(x+4 \sqrt{2})(x-3 \sqrt{2})$
