Question:

Divide −4a3 + 4a2 + a by 2a.

Solution:

$\frac{-4 a^{3}+4 a^{2}+a}{2 a}$

$=\frac{-4 a^{3}}{2 a}+\frac{4 a^{2}}{2 a}+\frac{a}{2 a}$

$=-2 a^{(3-1)}+2 a^{(2-1)}+\frac{1}{2}$

$=-2 a^{2}+2 a+\frac{1}{2}$
