Question:

A ball is projected from a point on the floor with a speed of $12 \mathrm{~m} / \mathrm{s}$ at an angle 60 with the horizontal, Will it hit a vertical wall $5 \mathrm{~m}$ away from the point of projection and perpendicular to the plane of projection without hitting the floor? Will the answer differ if the wall is $22 \mathrm{~m}$ away?

Solution:

$\mathrm{R}=\frac{\mathrm{u}^{2} \sin 2 \theta}{\mathrm{g}}$

$=\frac{(15)^{2} \sin (2 x 60)}{9.8}$

$R=19.88 \mathrm{~m}$

Ball will hit $5 \mathrm{~m}$ away wall

If wall is at a distance of $22 \mathrm{~m}$, it will not hit directly
