Criterion 2: JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2025 - Age Limit

For JEE Advanced 2025, students should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. However, SC, ST, and PwD candidates will get a five-year relaxation (born on or after October 1, 1995).

Criterion 3: JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria- Number of Attempts

The maximum number of attempts that the students can make at JEE Advanced 2025 is three times in three consecutive years. Those who appeared in the years 2023 and 2024 can appear in the year 2025 and those who are going to appear in 2025 can appear in the years 2026, 2027.

Criterion 4: JEE Advanced 2024 Eligibility Criteria- Appearance in 12th (or equivalent) Examination
Students who appear in the year 2022 or before are NOT eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2025 irrespective of the subject combination opted.

By appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination, it means that the Board concerned declared the result for that year irrespective of whether or not the examination was conducted. It will be considered as an appearance even if the result of a particular candidate got withheld.

However, if the examination Board of Class XII (or equivalent) declared the results for the academic year 2021-22 on or after September 21, 2022, then the candidates of that Board who appeared for their Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2022 are also eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2025, provided they meet all the other eligibility criteria. In case the examination Board of Class XII (or equivalent) declared the results for the academic year 2021-22 before September 21, 2022, but the result of a particular candidate was withheld for whatever reason, then the candidate will not be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2025.

The mentioned qualifying examinations will be considered equivalent to the 12th standard:

  • Annual examination of 12th systems, conducted by a Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

  • 10+2 Pre-University examination conducted by a Board or University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.

  • Annual examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.

  • Senior Secondary School Examination should be conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.

  • Any Public School, University or Board examination in India or in a foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities AIU.

  • OCI/PIO card holders who have secured OCI/PIO card before 04.03.2021, are considered Indian nationals for seat allocation to IITs.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2025 - Marks Required in Class 12th Standard/ Qualifying Exam

For admissions into IITs, the candidates will be required to meet the following eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2024:

  • Candidates must have passed the 12th standard (or equivalent) examination with a minimum of 75% percent marks and for SC/ST  categories students must score 65% 

  • The students should be within the top 20 category percentile of the qualifying examination.

  • While calculating total marks, the student should take into account scores of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Language, and any one other subject.

JoSAA Counseling Eligibility Criteria

A candidate should NOT have been admitted to an IIT under any academic program that is listed in JoSAA Business Rules of 2024 or earlier, irrespective of whether or not the candidate continued in the program OR accepted an IIT seat by reporting “online” / at a “reporting center” in the past. Candidates whose admission to IITs was canceled (for whatever reason) after joining any IIT are also NOT eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2025.

Candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2024 can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2025.

The candidates who were allocated a seat in an IIT through JoSAA but did not report “online” OR, (ii) withdrew before the last round of seat allotment, OR, (iii) had their seat canceled (for whatever reason) before the last round of seat allotment for IITs, are eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2025.

  • For admissions to NITs, the candidates should have passed JEE Main 2025. Candidates from their home state and outside state reservations in JoSAA follow the same criteria.

  • The conducting authorities will conduct a document verification phase. Only when the required qualification criteria are fulfilled will candidates be allotted be seated through JoSAA 2025

JOSAA Domicile Certificate

For JOSAA 2025 counselling if you want to take advantage of the state quota, you must produce a valid domicile certificate.

JOSAA Age limit

There is no age limit for JoSAA. Candidates need to qualify for the eligibility criteria of JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

JOSAA Educational Qualification

10+2 (or equivalent) exam with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

JoSAA Eligibility Criteria 2025 For JEE Advanced

  • The applicants must meet the JEE Main 2025 qualifying requirements.

  • The candidate must rank within the top 250,000 qualified JEE Main 2024 applicants.

JoSAA Eligibility Criteria 2025 for JEE Advanced (Preparatory Courses at IITs)

  • Although only candidates from the SC/ST/PwD categories will be admitted, candidates must fall under these categories.

  • Candidates should be eligible to take the JEE Advanced 2025 exam.

  • The candidates are also suggested to review the JoSAA 2025 eligibility criteria by the participating institutes. Verifying the course eligibility criteria which the candidates are applying for, is important.

  • The officials will provide information on course restrictions that applicants must consider when applying for admission.

JOSAA 2025 Qualifying Marks

  • The candidate should score a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Class 12th or any equivalent course.

  • For reserved candidates like SC/ST/OBC candidates, the aggregate percentage should be 40% in Class 12th or any equivalent course. This is the only JoSAA 2024 reservation for SC candidates.

  • There is no special reservation for girls in JoSAA eligibility criteria 2025.

JOSAA Eligibility Criteria 2025 for B.Arch/B.Planning

  • Applicants applying for the Architecture course must qualify for the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) to be eligible for registering under JoSAA eligibility criteria 2025.

  • The student should have at least 50% aggregate marks to be eligible for JoSAA in Class 12th with Physics and Mathematics as core subjects following either Chemistry, Biology, Language, or Technical Vocational subjects as optional.

JOSAA Eligibility Criteria 2025 for B.E /B.Tech

  • Scored a rank in JEE Main 2025  Paper 1 for B.E/B.Tech Program at NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and Other-GFTIs.

  • Students must have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) exam with Physics, Mathematics, and one of Chemistry, Biology, or Technical Vocational as required subjects.

  • Additionally, each topic should have been passed individually by the candidates.
